- Have we told you yet how important it is to brush and floss twice a day? It bears repeating - this tried-and-true method is the easiest, most effective way to prevent an unplanned visit.
- Make sure you are using the correct brushing form: massage along the gum line at a 45-degree angle to the gums.
- Avoid foods that are high in acid or sugar; if you do eat them, try to do so in moderation and brush/floss right after.
- Eat healthy foods that promote oral health, such as apples, celery and carrots.
- Wear a mouth guard if you are involved in contact sports to avoid a dental emergency.
- It may sound strange, but visit your dentist to avoid extra visits to the dentist! Missing regular cleanings and checkups increases the likelihood for cavities, gum disease and a variety of other oral health problems.
